Like you said in an earlier post, if there is a bronco (or other cheap bass) available, try and get that instead of risking one of your good basses. Check your local classifieds and see if you can pick up a used squier for about $50 or so. When I first went away to college, the only instrument I took with me was my $100 squier strat, and I actually ended up buying more instruments while at college because I found some good deals from other students who were tired of living off of noodles :p

Take the Ibby and a small amp. State College has a good music scene and you can find someone to jam with. Was in a band based out of SC for awhile and lived there for 5 years. Be careful though, had a bass swiped out of a van there. Rainbow music store is ok, the staff can be snobbish dicks sometimes, but the have a great selection of amps and basses in all price ranges. Still slobbering over a Tobias he has there. Welcome to central Pa.
