I voted for bass #1 because it has a more intimate presence in the mids, although both instruments sound equally full-bodied to me.

Nice :bassist: BTW. Tight and tuneful. :)

EDIT: I just checked the pole. It seems a few of the flat-wound aficionados have cast their vote as well...

I have to say I liked #1. it just sounded clearer. number two souded darker with more mid rage focus (a la bartolini) and one sounded like clear vintage pickups (Lindy, Fralin Suhrs etc) but what do I know!! (i'm probably way off )

Great playing! nice pocket and very tasty!

so will you disclose?????

I prefer the 1st.

2nd one sounds a bit muddy and "flabby" on the lower notes - probably wouldn't have noticed it had I not listened to the 1st though. In other words, it didn't sound terrible but I preferred the cleaner sound on # 1.

#1 for sure. I'm listening on midsize midfields in a good tuned control room, and the lo-mids of #2 are pretty murky. A mastering engineer wouldn't be able to fix it without sucking the guts out of the keys and drums. Left unmastered, it would sound pretty woofy on a typical home stereo, and extremely so in a car with a sub.

And, like everyone else says, awesome playing.

I don't really get what you are saying. Did it have too much low-mids for you? I don't really see that as growl. It's always hard to describe sound with words. :)

I heard a little mud on #2, and none on #1. Certainly nothing "annoying" about either, though. They both sounded good to me. :bassist:

I couldn't get them to play either, but I did some trimming of the address that it tried to run them from and came up with these:

I think I prefer the tone of the bass on clip 2, as clip 1 sounds a little thin in comparison. Maybe just bring up the volume of the bass on clip 2, because the bass on clip one seems a little louder.
