If you are even considering an Ampeg 8x10, I would strongly suggest that you also consider the Bergantino NV cabs. The NV610 offers up the killer tone of the good vintage Ampeg 8x10's, but it's even more articulate and definitely more portable. For doomish stuff, the NV215 is just da bomb.
You may be able to find a Bergantino HT322 for close to that price as well, and I think your GK would be just enough to get it to run well. The HT210/HT115 stack would also do well. The Dr. Bass suggestion is also a good one, as Marc builds a killer, killer cab, especially for the money. And those older Music Man HD212 and HD210 are excellent cabs, though a bit heavy.
