Which college music classes to take?

I'm a bit disappointed, I tried to sign up for some classes on wednesday, all the music classes I wanted to take are full, except for one theory class which severely conflicts with my schedule. So, I guess no music class for me this semester

I was a music major for a semester in college during the mid 1960's. I had to take Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Trombone and Brass Ensemble. I thought I wanted to be a High School Band Director but quickly realized that was going to be a very limited career path. I changed my major to Industrial Engineering. After two semesters and not taking enough hours the Vietnam draft came along. I finished my Engineering Degree after I got out of the service.

Never mind, I was actually able to get a class on Jazz, it's a Humanities class, so I'm not sure how much music I'll be listening to versus how much I'll be studying the cultural impacts. Regardless, I'm still excited.

I took Music Theory, History of Jazz, Classical Guitar, and Upright Bass while in college. All were immensely helpful. Classical guitar technique translates very well to the electric bass. You might want to try for it next semester.

For sure, I love playing my classical anyway, and I've actually noticed a bit of my techniques working for both as well.

Starting tomorrow. Took Understanding Music and Jazz Styles...History and Analysis. That's my starting point.

I went to my first class today, it was great, the teacher showed a video of Esperanza Spalding which was really cool and unexpected...I think I'm gonna like this class.
