Which combo for me? Fender or GK?

Lots of great advice here. I was looking at the Barfaced stuff, it seems to be a real winner here on TB.

I can always do the handtruck for a while and see how it goes. But these Chicago winters can really put a stop to that with heavy snow.

Get a GK MB112ii, and if that isn't enough for your stage volume needs (it probably will be enough) get the 112 powered extension cab.

You might give the Rumble Stage 800 a look, same form factor as the 500, but more powerful, and only slightly heavier. It has all the amp sims you could possibly want, so you get the best of all possible worlds.

I've had great luck with a Markbass CMD102P. I usually stack it on top of an external Genz Benz 2X10 cab, but having a kickback configuration for running by itself is just icing on the cake. Can't beat the portability at 29 pounds.

Try the newish Blackstar amps. Just tried one this past weekend at GC and was very pleasantly surprised.

If you use overdrive & don't scoop your sound, you probably won't enjoy the G-K sound.
Their O/D is ok if you scoop, but with the mids it sounds too solid-state to me. With the gain up in Motörhead territory it sounds like ultra-rapid-fire farting to me.

OTOH, I love Rumble's O/D sound & use it almost all the time!

Looking for a lightweight combo for easy transport.

But for gigs that are an hour long, I would just like to carry my bass in one hand and a competent amp in the other.

Budget is around $1000 but would like to keep it as low as possible.

So any advice, concerns, comments?

This is by far the best form factor I've seen for a 2x10 setup. Meets all of your criteria.

I use this. I routinely move an svt 810 cab with it. It’s a fraction of the cost. You can get one with pneumatic wheels with 900lb weight for 74 bucks. Well worth the money.

As much as I like the fender rumble combo. I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, I think you’re good with what you got. Sometimes the best action is to do nothing at all. You’re lightweight rig right now is just as good if not better than the combos you are inquiring about. If you want a different sound I’d say get a preamp pedal for a different vibe. GK has the Plex and you can definitely find a fender voiced preamp.

Sounds good, but I own a 2017 Honda Civic Si and space is limited for a bigger cart. I have looked into the rock and roller cart and they seem great.

Maybe I need to buy a gig van.

You mean like my trusty Astro van?

My cart is the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. You can see it's not very big once it's folded up. They make another, the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], that is even smaller. You can check [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] to see the dimensions of the folded carts. Forgive me if you've already done all this research.

Thanks for all the advice here people.

I made up my mind and just bought a smaller cabinet, well not that much smaller, it’s a little lighter too. I figure my GB SM 9.2 is more than sufficient for any gig.

Found a great condition TechAmp M210 on Reverb and made an offer. It was accepted and it is on its way.

I won’t be able to test it out on a gig until 11/3 in Indy. I imagine transport should be easy.

Now I just need to buy a cover for it. I have Toki covers for some of my stuff, maybe I will keep the trend going.
