Which combo would be louder?

Just a hypothetical questions in regards to the newer Nemesis N combo line. I've played a couple of them but not all. Which do you think would get louder?:

1x12" at 150 watts
2x8" at 200 watts
1X15" at 200 watts

"Louder" at what frequency?

Based on speaker area alone, I would guess the 1X15.

But there is more to it than that. The wattage is irrelevant as they are all about the same and none will use the full amount anyway.

Also, it is dependent on the sensitivity of the speakers that are loaded in each cab. If the 15" has a speaker with a sensitivity of 92dB and the 12" has one that is 98db, then the 1X12 will be louder.

However, given they are all by the same manufacture, I'd guess they are all about the same overall, but as seamonkey said...at what frequency?

I'm wondering more in the low to midrange (50-300 Hz) area.

Get the one that goes to "11" - it's one louder than the others.



Seriously, the only way to find out is to actually use them. Perception of "loud" depends on a variety of factors.
