which DR set for my P bass...?

Yes...i know...so many sets to choose from...but, i do have P bass with TI flats and i love it! but for a second P bass...which set?
i play finger style mostly and play rock, postpunk, funk etc...i want a do it all full bodied string that works for finger-style, slap etc...
was thinking of Rotos for my round wound string but DR seems to be a fave around here...and they seem to last long...
so...Fat Beams? Lo Riders? Sunbeams?
i do want a nice rich full bodied rockin tone with bite and grunt and fullness...

I've been using Sunbeams on my P-bass for a while now and have no complaints. They are low tension, really smooth to the touch, and do just about everything I ask of them. I've tried Lo-Riders but the Hex-core was just way too stiff for my playing style. Rotos are good too but they are much rougher on the hands. I've yet to try the Fat Beams... The Sunbeams will definitely give you that smooth full bodied tone with some bite when you dig in.

I loved Rotos 20 years ago. Fast forward to today and I find they sound great new but the low B and E quickly go dead. Tried DR Neons and they sounded good and lasted longer but I play with a pick and wound up with bare spots in the coating after a couple of months.
Now I'm on DR Black Beauties and they sound good but more of a classic dark thump, not so much the rock/punk/funk string.

I don't suggest Lo-Riders for a punk (grindy or aggressive) sound. I put a new set on my MIA Fender P a day before a gig and they just didn't to that sort of sound well. Sunbeams, likewise aren't too good for that. Hi-beams might be a better option.

Thats Interesting!

I was hell bent on switching to these from my Rotosounds, I always heard these were similar to them for that aggressive tone and good tension for pick playing :hmm:

I have tried Hi beams, they sound nice but have way less tension than the Rotos, which is the reason I switched...
