Which DR strings for my 4-string Stingray with neck status?

Hi, I'm here to ask your advice on which DR strings you recommend for my Stingray with neck status? I currently play with pure blues on it. I wanted to know how the hi-beams or fat-beams compare. Do you recommend them for my Stingray with its neck status? I want strings that will really make my Stingray growl. I only play with my fingers, and slap. More funk soul. Thanks, best regards

Lo Riders will definitely have much more growl the the Pure Blues you are using.

The high beams are suuuper bright and zingy compared to the fat beams. If you like the “brand new string” sound, those are good.

I’m partial to the sunbeams. They have more of a broken in roundwound sound, and to my ears they stay consistent for a longer time. I think they sound very nice in situations where you want a little more warmth, and that can be very nice on a Ray.

I have been using Fat beams since they came out. I use them on my Music Man sterling 4H. I like that they have some warmth to them compared to the Hi beams. "Growl" to me is in the lower mids and I think the Fat beams do in fact bring out that frequency. I use the fat beams because I dopped down to light gauge strings and I feel like they bring back some thickness lost from downsizing. Could be in my head but I like them quite a bit.

I really love DR Lo-Rider. I string all my basses with them, apart from one of my Ps that wears La Bella’s 760FL flats. At the time when I had a stingray Special, I also used DR Lo Riders on it. They sounded awesome, as always.

I recently tried DR Hi Beams and got disappointed. The tension is much lower and the overall oomph is not there compared to Lo Riders. But that’s just me…

I am in love with DR Hi Beams on my Stingrays, Sabre. Jazz bass and Precision.
DR Hi Beam....My fav string out of the many many I have tried

Fat Beams had more thump than the High Beams I thought, when I was running stainless on a few basses they were my top choice. I flip back and forth but am happy with nickels for now.

Precisely what I'd recommend too ^

You get plenty of grind and bite, however they're still very strong on low-end. To me they have more definition than the Fat Beams do in a very musical way.
