Which flats are these? Light blue silks

Just picked up another P Bass.... yeah I know.... Anyway, This one has some really good flats on it, even though they have blue silks, they are not D'Addario Chromes because these are light blue instead of the dark blue on the Chromes and the string itself is not as dark gray, it's a very light gray colored string.

I asked the previous owner and he thinks they are Fender flats but I thought Fender flats have green silks only?

They also seem to be lower tension than any other flats I have played. I have Labella Deep Talkin' flats on another P Bass, but those are bright silver strings with black silks.

Do they have brass-colored ball ends? If so, they could possibly be Ernie Ball Stainless Steel Flats (NOT Cobalt). I've seen pics of some of them with silk in lighter shade of blue, depending on the particular set and the age.

Yes to gold ball ends and blue silks at the end as well

They do for short scale which is my only frame of reference (Just put them on my SS Stingray today). I have seen Fender strings with the light blue silks on the flats for full scale though.

The OP is talking about strings that came on a P bass, so it's safe to assume we're talking "long scale" here.

Thanks everyone, I went ahead and ordered some Ernie Ball Stainless Steel Flats to see if these are the strings or not and will report back here in a few days.

Just don't be surprised if the shade of blue silk doesn't match exactly. Based on what I've read, it appears there have been different shades of blue for these flats over the years.

Some people have even reported the silks on both D'Addario Chromes (blue) and Fender 9050s (green) have gotten lighter in recent months. It could well be due to the pandemic supply chain issue.

I had some chromes with lighter blue silk, I think they had been in the sun a lot and faded some, they were pretty old.

I got some exactly like that off a Sasquatch once. Man did he have some growl when he dug in with his plucking hand. Sounded great.

Did you see that squatch play too? With his hand strength it made those strings look like low tension....

They aren't this way now, but at least some of the Rotosound "Steve Harris" sets are light blue silk. Today (last I knew) they are a mix of alternating red and blue, but there may well still be some all-blue sets floating around out there.

According to the OP's description, these flats in question are "lower tension than any other flats (I have played)". Based on that, I have my doubts about them being the Roto SH flats.

Agreed, sounds likecc be a set of Ernie Ball Group flats. I've been enjoying their Group IV / 40-95 set lately. When I checked out their .105 set a while back I wasn't that into them TBH… the .095 set is awesome though
