Which GAS will you succumb to in 2013?

I spent quite a lot last year, and I need to put some aside so I can chip in to record the band's next album. Doesn't stop me lusting though. I think my Schecter has sated the P-bass lust for a while; temptation to invest in my first Fender is definitely on the wane at the moment.

But those Epi T-birds...they look great, and they're in my sort of current price range. Definitely one of the neck-through versions, but I'm not sure. I tried one a few weeks ago and wasn't that taken, but then it was really badly set up. And the sound isn't *so* different from my EB-3. I'm probably going on looks mainly...anyone think it's worth having one?

Been wanting to have one ever since I started playing... My problem is the schlepp. Got no car so that would mean either to never bring it to rehearsal or never be able to practice at home. Both a bummer.

Could have it at home and only bring it to gigs but something in me dislikes the idea of gigging on something you neber tried with the band before...

Unquestionably I am going to eventually succumb and add a 4th short scale to my stable. The only question is will be be a cheapie used Bronco to mod, or a new Jag SS.
I have absolutely zero need for another bass, as the three I already have more than fulfill all my needs, but the lure of the GAS dark side is very strong :help:

Nothing, because of "austerity measures" brought about by a recent loss of job security, but if I were going to succumb....

It would probably be a Carvin B40. For the last year or so I've been wanting something that sounds like my Bunny 4 string (or close to it) but is shaped and plays like my L2K. The Bunny is still very serviceable, but my injuries come back to haunt me after playing it for an extended time. The L2K has the best ergos for me, but not quite the sound I usually need.

So if I ever need to get down to just one bass, I'd probably replace them both with a plain-jane passive B40 unlined FL with a large MM-style humbucker at the bridge.

It'll be several years, if ever, before I can spend money on a bass, though, so that plan will just stay on the whiteboard for now...

Me too. Mrs. wants to take the family on a big trip (that will bankrupt us, in all likelihood), but instead I'd like some sort of really nice 5-string Jazz style. Lakland 5560 or DJ 5, perhaps, or Fender Am Dlx.

I consider this birthday the one time in my life where I can justify buying myself something expensive that I absolutely don't need. I am not passing up that opportunity.

I may succumb to another/different Roscoe this year. I have a beautiful new Roscoe Century Standard Plus 5 fretless and have a Century Standard Plus 5 fretted being built as we speak.

I've been playing the fretless exclusively since I received it - a couple weeks. I like it a lot. Very different from playing fretted of course. Makes me be more precise which is a good thing. It's very expressive. I've had fretless basses before so I'm not new to it, but I don't have any gigs that specifically call for fretless right now - like when I used to play in jazz groups. I'm going to try it at church on Sunday. Many people seem to like playing their fretless basses in a church situation. If it works out, great. If it doesn't, someone will get a great deal on a spectacular fretless Roscoe.

EDIT: Due to Fender's price hikes on the AVRI line, I'm not sure I will be supporting the company. Maybe I'll get something else I would like.
