Which gig bag?

Just a quick update on my own bag selection, I ended up ordering a bag from Probag.
Ordered it with a couple of custom options added (an extra strap and storage pocket). Unfortunately he isn't making the leather briefcases anymore, but I can live without it. The total with shipping and tax (we are in the same state), came out to a little more than $230 for a heavy leather bag. Prices were VERY reasonable for a custom made leather gig bag, considering a comparable Reunion Blues runs about $400. It should be done in about a week (he told me a 15 day build time). I'll post a review when it comes in.

IMHO, I disagree....

For the last 4 years, I've taken my bass on transit, to university, 3 hours a day minimum during the normal mon-friday school week. Sometimes it would be 4 or 5 hours if there was another rehearsal.

I had to use a gigbag because of the other things I had to carry (extra amp many days, books, binders, bags for work, etc.....) and the fact that hardshell cases are terrible in cramped situations on public transit.

When my Bodyglove case broke on me, I needed a quick, cheap replacement because I don't have much money. I decided to try the warwick Rockbag because I figured that I would be getting a new case sometime soon and it would hold up for the time being.

I've since gone through 3 cases in 4 months. Every single time, the issues are the same:
- First, the bottom of the bag wears down to nothing.
- Second, the strap breaks off one, or both, of the sides of the back.
- Third, the fabric tears at various places on and in the case.

I'm going to be getting a reunion blues case next because I know from personal experience how durable they are and how great they've been to friends of mine.

I don't mean to knock anyone who likes the rockbags; I just want to give my own experience on the issues I've experienced with the rockbag.

I like warwicks as well, so I don't get any pleasure in knocking on warwick products, just in case anyone thought I was hating on the brand.

I've been using Levy's bags for a couple of years now, and despite the cost of all leather gigbags, for people that don't/can't use hard cases it's the next best thing.

Had a couple of Warwick Rockbags, and had the same issues people mentioned here, mainly with the bottom of the bag showing strap button marks almost immediately after using it once.

+1 on the issue with warwick rockbags. mine eventually teared from the inside and pieces of foam would spread like dust on my basses. it does seem solid at first, but damn, it breaks quite fast.

i also had one of those clothed roadrunner ones. i love the way it looks and how simple it is, but again, it started to rip near the bottom end.

im currently using IGig ... it had issues with the zippers, but mike saw me post about it here on TB, he ended up sending me money to repair the zippers.

i am still using my IGig, and they are just great... i can also fit in a lot of stuff too
