Which key for a 1983 Fender Precision Bass case?

I just tried a Cheney #30 and it didn’t fit. Any help on what key might work would be appreciated.

It is a Presto lock.

The only thing I will say is that there is a reason why you see so many broken latches on Fender G&G hard cases. It's because people lock them and lose the key. Or, they use the key to lock them and then when they try to unlock it the lock won't open up so they have to bust it open with big screwdriver. They are notoriously unreliable and I wouldn't even bother trying to replace one or even use it for that matter.

Yeah, locks on instrument cases are pretty silly. Anyone with bad intent will just pick up the case and then get into it later at their leisure.

While walking down the street with an instrument case gets some attention, it's nothing like walking down the street with an instrument NOT in its case.

That is strange. The Cheney #30 was used for the vast majority of Fender cases during this time period. I guess you are sure this is a Fender case. That being said, I learned the hard way that it’s not worth locking a case. I flew from the east coast to L.A. to do some recording, so I thought locking my bass would keep it safe during the flight. Ended up having to destroy a perfectly good case because I left the key at home.

The #30 key fit alot more than just Fender cases. Musicman tolex were also made by G&G and use the #30 key, also the hard plastic Musicman cases were being made by SKB for MM also came with #30 keys, I have a bag full.
