Double Bass Which mic you may pickup from those?

I olso used few times the RE-20 and olso in the Radio. I didn't heard it becouse just used to the front. My guitar player checked from outside, he told the sound was very good. I like to use mic stads, so I dont go for Clamp, I like to keep my bass clear of clamps, rubbers., tu mutch cables, Bass Bibs, bow holders. I know this is a total insanity and not practical but maybe comes from my classical past. A small clip on mic will be olso practical and look nice but I had no succes with very small mics. Maybe the small diaphragm is not enough to capture a big instrument like URB, i dint know. I like If the mic was not heavy and big as the Re 20 and sounds good. The Sennheiser MD 421 is olso very good, but in this thread I'm curious in cheaper mics.

Of those mics, I have used the D112, the M201, and the Beta 57.

Assuming you mean live sound and not recording, they are all usable. I'd probably pick the Beta 57 out of those three, with the Beyer M201 a close second.

A lot depends on your bass and the amp or PA.

I do not use a pickup - I am mic only. My mic of choice is a Beyer M88, but I also own and use an RE20 and an SM58. I still own the M201, but it's not really my thing for gigs. It works, but not as good as the M88.

If you mean recording - I choose none of the above.

For recording I choose Neumann U67 or U87. But I search mic for live, with pretty volume before feedback, and good isolation. The M88 is more $ but, if way better, maybe I go for it.

Then finding a good dynamic mic will make you happy.

If money is an issue, I'd go with the Shure Beta series. These are fine mics.

If money is not a big deal, I'd maybe grab an M88. (The M88 is a fine mic, but be warned that it does have a big low end on it. It may be too much if your bass or amp is bottom-heavy. If your amp or PA is pretty flat and you have a normal bass, it will work great).

If you think you might record live with it, I'd consider the RE20, but I'll warn you that it needs a lot of gain. Your preamp must be pretty good to power it for maximum quality.

Mics can be a crap shoot because there are so many variables. Hope this helps.

With mic i just go directly to the mixer, i have no mic preamp. The PA is different all the time, and various quality from Beringer to Meyer-Sound, it depends where I play. My bass have not too mutch bottom (unfortunatelly). I dont want to record. For me more inportant to have no feedback and dont pickup tu mutch cymbals than some of the nuances of the sound.
