Which Mustang?

Got some GAS for the first time in ages!

Just loving the look of the Mustang. Played a shorty a while back (SG bass) which I should have kept, as I loved the feel of the smaller size at long gigs.

I've been looking at the new P/J version, or the MIJ FSR one.

Tone-wise, I've never had a PJ. It will be my only big F bass, as my Ricky 4001 is my forever and ever bass.

I've heard the Mustangs have got a nice bottom end. That's what I'd like - a thick, Mel Schacher type sound if that's at all possible!

It'll go through my Fender rig - 500 head, 112 and 115 cabs.

What do you think?

The Mustang pj bass is an excellent bass and the j pickup gives it an advantage over the traditional single pickup mustang, that being said i will admit i have never played the single pickup version, it may be very nice but is a lot harder to track down one and usually more expensive too which for me a big selling point of the pj is its relative affordability
