Imagen this : you're a candidate for a television program where you can win money. You're on stage and in front of you there's a desk with 2 buttons on it.

If you press the left button, you will get 1 million dollar instantly. If you press the right button, you have 50 % change to win 100 million dollar.

Which one would you choose?

I'm going for the button on the right...because I'm greedy and people have told me that in life, to get anywhere you need to take risks.
The bigger the risk , the bigger the reward. That's what they told me and I believe them.

My dad used to say stuff like "Faint heart never won fair maiden" and my mom used to say stuff like "Nothing ventured, nothing gained".....they wouldn't tell me that if it wasn't true....

So I think they were steering me down the right path.....button on the right for sure....

One option has a guaranteed win. The other doesn't. If it was a guaranteed $100 or a 50/50 $1000, it would be a different story. A million bucks isn't necessarily enough to never work again and do what you want forever, but it's pretty good. The left button is the only reasonable option.

I'm going to assume that what you meant to say was that if you select the right button, you have a 50/50 chance of winning 100M or nothing at all. If that is the case, I would easily select the left button for the one million, because I could easily parlay that money into much more than one million through sound investment strategies, and I'm not the type of person who'd blow a crap-ton of money on stupid things anyway.

Is this even a question? 1 million is enough to retire and start a carrot farm!

Well, on one hand, I wouldn't walk away with less money than I showed up with-even if I walked away with nothing.
On the other hand --the $1,000,000 is a sure thing, and no need to be greedy.

So I'd take the million.
