No. I would agree that Rosewood would look better with the tort guard. I'm gonna buy one of the new American Professional II's. Olympic White with tort guard and Rosewood neck, when they become available here.

Thx! All of mine are FrankenFenders... the black one is actually a MIJ Geddy Lee J neck- which I rebadged with a P waterslide

Cool- I played a RIC, for 35yrs, then arthritis began settling in... going mostly with J necks these days! The Oly White bass is fitted with a (rebadged) American Special J neck

I agree about the soreness. I'm in my 50's and the J doesn't really make me sore at all. Haha. I recently switched to 45-100, from 45-105, on my P's and that helps, too.

Hehe- great minds (hands) think alike... I used Roto SS 66’s (.105) on my RIC... now I’m diversifying

Welcome to TB. I prefer the P but many other people like the J better. It all depends what you are trying to accomplish musically.

I just sold my P Bass. It was a beautiful American Standard but I just felt clumsy playing it compared to my Marcus Miller Jazz Bass. The narrower string spacing just works better for the way I play.
