Not a big fan of maple necks on basses.

… a criteria I have never considered before, but maybe a reason to keep in itself … kind of in the category of:
… "Does this bass make my butt look big?"
… sorry, couldn't help myself![]()
Standard TB answer --> Keep Both
I have a 62 pickup awaiting install, so hearing this makes me happy..I have the amber with maple neck. Vintage Modified. Fender original '62 pups, perfect setup. So satisfying to play, hear and see. Compares to any Fender anyware. Aside from it I have 3 white/maple Precisions. For gigs or rehearsals, I like to have choices.
Lol..Would love to but Fender does not offer a straight up Pbass with a jazz neck. If they did, this post wouldn't exist..I'd sale both and get something better.
Good point...Which is probably why the Fender 50s and vintage series maple fretboards look "right." They aren't as white..or lightOK, late to thread so probably not important BUT, the white bass with the very dark neck and the black PG and white body really play well off of each other and I like that. The amber bass on the other hand has the maple neck against the Black PG where the maple neck is a bit on the light (bright) side so that the body, PG and neck are less 'tight'. Good looking bass but I think if the neck wasn't so 'white' it would hold together a bit better. A harsh way to look at two beautiful instruments but the white one is more design precise.
