Swap the necks. I'd put the rosewood on the natural and keep that one.Just wondering based on aesthetics/first glance...this isn't a for sale thread, just curious. Which one would you keep and why? Amber or White Squier VM Pbass

Switch the necks, keep the white body with the maple fret board.
Thanks will do...Revised opinion: Swap necks and keep both if you like playing both. Both basses would look many times better with the swapped necks. I like the white/bright new maple with black pickguard because the pickguard really stands out against the rest of the bass. The pickguard could be any dark color, even tort if you like that stuff. That is what my #1 looks like. However, my fiver is a dark natural with rosewood fretboard and black pickguard. It is also a good look.
If you don't like the white/maple, send me a PM. I have been thinking about making another 425 (But I hope you enjoy both and keep them).

This thread is simply obtaining some TB opinions, so not sure what you don't get. They are two VM Pbasses that both feel good and sound good, but more geared around visual appeal of the basses. However, I get your point with the G string deal because I just played some songs on the white/rosewood bass and for some reason it sounded very clear and articulate, more so than others I have owned..thats a good thingDon’t get this thread at all. If an instrument feels right under your hands and inspires you to play, you can always fix things like paint colours and pickguards.
Which one sounds/feels better after a good setup?
I had a candy apple red Vintage Modified Precision 5-string. Had a wicked dead spot on the G string, so back it went, took a sunburst instead. No dead spot, but still didn’t sound or feel that great, so I took a refund instead.
Found a white one at another store a few weeks later. Sounded better than the others, felt great, done.
I eventually stripped it and did a PJ conversion on it. A friend in Vancouver is gigging it out now...
How about I swap the necks and you can buy the white/maple?I like the amber and rosewood. Maybe he should swap the necks and sell them both to us?
Nah. I’m more funk than punk. How about I swap the necks and you can buy the white/maple?![]()
Exactly what I was thinking! The one P-Bass I ever owned was a Sunburst with a Rosewood fretboard. However, my ideal P-bass may be: Maple with a rosewood fretboard. Oddly enough, my mid-70's Jazz Bass is Maple finish with a maple neck and my 1980 Ric 4003, is Mapleglo with a rosewood fretboard! Now, all I need (want) is that P-bass, to complete the collection!!And another great neck swap idea..Pop the RW on the maple? Nah?
I would definitely have to refinish that headstock, though...View attachment 3279954 Quod erat demonstrandum
I agree - keep both. maybe put a tort pick guard on the white one.Standard TB answer --> Keep Both
