Which Pickguard For Stage Use

That would look best on stage with a black guard. Certainly not the tort!

LOL. I love it. I ask people to choose between 1 and 2 and the first response is 3! LOL. I actually hadn't thought about black, but it seems so plain to me. I want even a little bit of flash.

If I end up not going with the goldrush, I'll probably take it over to the Pickguardian shop and finding something very cool or over the top. I could have Tony route the green or Miley guards for the single coil....
The reason I suggest the black pearl is because I think black looks best with a natural finish. But since you want something a little more flashy, the black pearl I think fits.Question: 1 or 2?

I like that green one, but with the black finish, not the natural.
I guess out of the 2 options you gave, I prefer the tort. But I still say look at black or black pearl.
I'd probably go black pearl over plain black. I might make a trip to the shop next month if I can find some time.

If you want a cool looking stage bass, black will work best from a distance on natural wood. All that glitter and glitz won't look good on a natural bass (IMHO) and it will look like you're trying too hard!
Now, glitter on a solid color such as black, now you're talking!
You can't go wrong with tort, and it looks great on the natural finish...however, #2, whatever color it is exactly (I'm badly color blind and can't really tell) jumps out at you and grabs your attention, and the more I look at it the more it grows on me.

I've just been though this exercise with Tony on a bunch of my basses. My thoughts:
Tort is really great on "burst" but isn't really a good "stage" look. More for people sitting around on the floor by your feet! Still it does give a bass a "quality" look that still works on stage but is not flashy.
Black or White. After much consideration (and playing my SX basses that came with black or white pickguards, I decided that it gives basses a "Cheap" look. Well hey, I mean they WERE SX basses! Those were the ones that had to go...even on natural wood.
Pearloid. My final choice for a number of my basses. Your "goldrush" is excellent. Gives your instrument appearance some "punch". It is much better Tony and I decided if it's in a non-standard color. White pearloid tends to look like a mod by beginner on a cheap instrument by buying a new guard. An interesting color (eg. gold) says. "Look at this color! This guard did not come off the rack at GC!"
Sparkle. Sparkle is the ultimate stage dress. Just how much "flash and trash" do you want? Do you have red or silver sparkle pants and jacket to match the pickguard? It's a longtime standard for drumset wrap as well. As for me I settled one notch down at pearloid, but I certainly have been in many musical situations where sparkle (and more!) was totally appropriate! You decide!
