Which Pickguard?

Long story short, I want a pickguard for my bass. Luckily, I have a laser cutter at my campus, so I can pretty much make any pickguard design I want. Unfortunately, I can't choose.

Right now, I have 3 designs that I like (horribly mocked up in photoshop).

1. Jazz-esque

2. Tele-esque

3. Hollowbody tele-esque

Right now, I'm leaning towards hollow tele-esque, but I can never have enough second opinions (or if you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them).

I like the Jazz style, but it's maybe a little too small. If it was a bit bigger I'd go for that one.

The tele special style makes the bass look a bit like a yin-yang Fodera (of sorts)

I'd go for the jazz style- the wood grain is more interesting than the pickup, so I wouldn't want to cover up too much of the wood.

It's a Washburn OB45 with its finish stripped and stained. I've never such a huge love hate relationship than with this bass.

+1 hollow tele-esque, has sort of a Ying/Yang flow to it.

Jon- From an aesthetic standpoint, #2 is not pleasing to the eye because the bottom of the pickguard does not run parallel to the top of the pup below it- this creates visual "disharmony", if you will. My vote is #3 as well because the long flowing line of the pickguard reinforces the line of the upper horn and the curve of the body- it has a very "Renasissance" flow to it, very pleasing to the eye. Da Vinci would approve.

Hollowbody is different looking if that's what you're going for. Personally, I like the Jazz, but that's personal taste.

Have you seen the VM 70's telebass pickguards? They go up and cover the whole upper horn too, like this-

I think that would be awesome on that bass.

The finished pickguard if anyone's interested. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Washburn (having the awmazing customer service that they do) didn't have any plans, schematics, diagrams, or even the company who made the pickups on the original bass, so I took a cellphone pic and pretty much eyeballed how the pickguard would fit.

Miraculously, it fit perfectly (Or at least well enough ).
