Which preamp should I get?

I have an RBI and it sounds great...I would LOVe to have an Eden Navigator or an Aggie....but for the price you can't beat the Sansamp

What's up? Your friend from Holland here.

I'm kinda in the same situation as you are. I NEED power. My current 350 Watt Ampeg head won't do the trick anymore. Now I like Ampeg, but 1900 Euros (= US $ 2300!!!) for an Ampeg SVT4pro is just too much. That's more then I paid for my car!
So I figured out that a cheaper and louder solution is going for a separate pre + power amp. Indeed, the European market for pre amps is bad. Because of that there's almost nothing available second hand. The diffrence between you and me is that I like some overdrive. I'm going for the Cliff Burton tone. I'm very tempted to buy the SVP pro. I searched and searched. The cheapest I could find was 619 Euros. That's a bit over the top considering:

They go for cheap on the US eBay. I don't know how I can solve the power supply problem. I'll be reading, checking, trying and searching too. I won't buy anything without trying it.

Now that I1ve done one exam today, I'll have some time so I'm going to try the SVP-Pro tomorrow
The more I listen to the clips at bassatasters, the more tempted i get... Maybe I will try to talk the price a bit down... Right now its 130 000 HUF ~ $620 ~ €520
I could find some (very few) other preamps or retailers, but the retailers could not so far give me a price or the pre went for the same price as that - e.g. Peavy MAX and most likely the RBI would go for the same price

well, for the price here, you can beat the sansamp RBI
