Funny you say that, because I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the least popular option. I was mostly just curious. But I'm also the type of person that likes to specifically get what other people wouldn't get.
I like the idea of it looking less like a classic Fender color combo.

One bass, two pickguards, two completely different looks (IMO... both of which I quite like).
So I think I've landed on my choice, but I'm really enjoying seeing where the poll is headed. The addition of that third option seemed to really entice some people.

I think my decision is made, but by all means, keep chiming in with your opinions. The Sandberg Configurator can be a real GAS-giver. And being that I work for a dealer that just started carrying them, I've come to get to know their basses quite well (and subsequently have fallen madly in love with their builds).

My first good bass was an early 70's Jazz with maple board and pearliod blocks. I had both a tort and white pearl pickguard (like option 3) and was partial to it with the white pearl. That has always been by far the favorite bass I have owned, looks wise. For me the perfect combo would be the vintage white/cream with the blocked neck, pearl pickguard and chrome hardware.

Funny you started this thread because good friend of mine was looking at buying one of Sandberg's NAMM basses (a custom TM5). When he was mulling it over he sent me pics and ask what I thought. It had a roasted maple neck with black block and gold hardware. I despise black blocks and didn't like the gold hardware on that bass either and told him so. He bought it anyway... LOL!

I'm never happy when I compromise so my ultimate recommendation is buy what you like.

I'd probably get an ivory/cream/off white guard, but if you like tort, then keep the tort.

I would simply get the colour you want and a couple of different pick guards so you can change it up from time to time! I would however go for nickel or black hardware, I don't like chrome or gold.

I can dig it. I wasn't a fan either at one point. Now I'm old and have a growing fondness for high pants and early bed times. So, that may explain my change in tastes.

I've got a Sandberg VM5 on order but am thinking about changing up the color scheme. One of these is what's on order, the other is what I'm thinking of changing to.

I hear ya... We have this one in the store - Invalid Link Removed - and I would just bring that one home with me, except that I can't deal with the 2 different shades of white. Cream with white guard doesn't do it for me, personally. And if I'm going to add the white blocks, those also won't match the cream, which I think would irk me.

But all of this is super helpful also as it gives me insight as to what I should order for the store. I really like the fretless that Steve linked also. Some really cool ideas.
Even if I change my personal order, it seems like the traditional cream build might be good to have built and bring in as inventory to offer up at the store.

The last one is my favourite. I don't know why so many make such a big deal about gold vs chrome hardware - I barely even notice.
