Which Sire!!

I have been planning to buy a Sire… but which one? I had been planning on picking up a V5, because I love the roasted neck, but was thinking I wouldn’t be able to deal with the single coil hum… then I saw the great review @LowEndLobster did on the P5… haven’t really seen him be that enthusiastic about a bass, thanks a lot Dude! Then I saw a good deal on a P7 at GC used… It looks good with those blocks, binding’s nice, and a PJ is alluring… but what’s the neck like?

So basically I’m doing the same thing we all are doing all the time \_(“,)_/

Does anyone have any experience comparing the 3?

Ha ha! Yes, I think the best thing for me right now is there someone here on TB bought that P7 on GC used... you bring up a good point though, that P7 might be first GEN...

You can always get hum-cancelling pickups. Almost all aftermarket jazz pickup manufacturers make them. I have Duncan Apollo’s, but lately the Aguilar AG4J-HC caught my attention.
They sound absolutely amazing, in my opinion…

The p7 has a jazz type neck,my most comfortable and easiest to play 5 string. Mine is a 1st gen,great player.

I have an 2nd Gen M2 that I bought as a backup 5 string, which became my #1 as soon as I took it out of the box. I chose the M2 over the higher-end M* models for its simpler electronics. Unreal bang for the buck. I am old school so did not choose it for a more modern sound. I can get any sound out of it that I want/need. And the 2nd Gen neck - OMG nicest neck I've ever touched. My bandmates told me right away they love this bass.

I also have a 2nd Generation M2. Fast Ibanez like neck and at the price point very well assembled. I haven’t had a problem with the stock hardware, pickups, or preamp. Coming up on two years of ownership and all I have done is replace the strings with fresh roundwounds.
Definitely fills my need for a dual humbucker ‘modern’ bass

So in this regard, you might want to check if that P7 is 1st Gen or 2nd Gen…depending on when Sire snuck that HC J pickup in there…
