Double Bass which string tension ?

I am moving from electric bass to double bass and have bought a Stentor 3/4 size. Sadly I have some arthritis in the left wrist and find the string tension a bit too strong ( I don`t know what strings are on it from the maker). I play mainly folk style music and blues at present. Can anyone give me some easily understood help and advice on lighter strings. Many thanks.
