Which Strings

Hello, I am at a loss here, i have researched but not found a true answer to my delima...becuase i am sure that there is more than one

Here is the problem. I have used elixers for a long time, and i really liked them. I was having a discussion with a Daddario rep and he asked me to try a set of thier EXP strings. I put them on and noticed that they did not seem to have as much "oomph" to them as the elixers, but i gave them a shot. They were 45-125".
Well i have been using them for about 8 months (he gave me more than one set) and they were finally dead on my Lakland 55-02 so i decided to go back to the Elixers. I could only get 45-130 in the super long scale. Well, i got them on and....much to my dismay...they sound almost dead in comparison to the EXPs. They have more of the low oomph but there is no bite to them.

So here is my question. I play rock/hard rock. I do some slapping (hence wanting a string with the zing to it) and tapping, but i also play low riffs. What would be a good string to try and why?

I just put a set of DR Long Necks on my 6er. I used to use Elixirs but decided to try them. They're decent. Great tone. I can't speak to how long they hold up because I just got them.

These are the strings I've used religiously since I discovered them:

Rotosound Swingbass 66 Stainless Steel .45 - .105

They give a real nice growl and are especially nice if you have an aggressive finger pluck style.

the dr black beauties are great...great coated feel and nice bright sound...they slap great on my warwick

I use Elixirs, coated strings. They're the only ones that last under my acidic fingers. And they last and last. 2 months minimum for my main axe; 1 year + for my others that spend much of their time hanging on the wall. Great tone and keep a lively vibe for at least 4x the time of regular roundwounds. They cost twice as much, but are cheaper in the long run for me. Smooth feeling too, which I have come to love.

I'm going to have to second the Rotosounds Swingbass 66 Stainless Steels.
I use them on both my basses, because they have a sharp attack while preserving the much cherished lows (I mean, hey, that's why we play bass, right?). I definitely recommend them.
