Which wireless should i get? Samson vs shure

Something within my price range right are two second hand wireless systems.
Samson airline 77 and a Shure pg14k-q11
Both guys are good sellers and the one seling shure used to be my drummer back in high school. I have seen very good reviews of samson airline but none of the shure pg14 yet.

I hope u guys can help me.

Given a choice................Shure. Although the current Samson Airline systems aren't bad. Leave the Stage series alone.

Id avoid anything that isn't digital anymore. Thoses system's are becoming illegal to use.

specifically i recommend the sennheiser ew100 series. i have a spector ReBOP 5string, and this sounds great.

i have been recently looking into the shure GLX-D with the stompbox reciever. its by no means a step up, but im just waiting on a DEMO to see its good/bad points.

I had an earlier line6 model, and vowed never to spend money on their products again. Also, they come out with new series every so often and then discontinue parts for the older stuff.

I now have a $500 wireless that's useless

Many digital systems use the same frequencies as analog systems, the GLX-D (which is the cheapest system I'd use - or a used ULX-D or Sennheiser).

the only thing that im hesitant about with the GLX-D systems is the companding. i had previously owned shure SLX wireless, and its sounded fine, until i realised when i tried out the sennheiser ew100 and compared, and noticed that shure's companding really made the low B string between 1st-5th frets sound horrendous! so im hoping that since they went digital that this problem is corrected. i know for sure that with digital the companding/compression ratio is less demanding, as it goes through a/d converters then transmits a bunch of 0's & 1's. so im pretty hopeful

I have used this one for 2 years. No problems, no difference in tone from a good cable, as far as I can tell. Built in tuner as well.

what would you like to know....but essentially think of companding like compressing....when you over compress it sounds flat and lifeless, it works, but its like meh! lol...there is considerably less compression required with digital systems since its all 0's & 1's (binary data) between point a and point b. so this is why typically with most digital systems whey they sound much better, hence the line 6 junkies, since line 6 was really the first company to jump on the digital bandwagon. every other manufacturer sat back and waited for the tech to do it better. so what you will find though because of this is that the sound difference between brands with digital wireless now will be minimal, and any sound differences will be because the A/D converters are better. and thats what you will find will be the determining factor. that and construction will dictate price also (obviously)
