This is my first post, so bear with me....

I've been playing bass for around 2 years, I have been playing on a $99 P-Bass clone, it was my first bass, I decided its time to upgrade to a better bass, I know its still cheap but I'm looking at 3 in particular in the $300 range, so, if you were in my position, which of these 3 would you choose?

Epiphone Les Paul Special (I think i like this one the most)

I'm not a fan of any of those but, honestly, I think your $300 would go much farther by buying a good bass, pre-owned, through TB.

There are some fantastic deals here, and by and large, the sellers here are extremely honest and easy to deal with -- and the basses are in good to great condition.

Id do a Ibanez SR300 instead for that $300. Or BC Rich Eagle1 with added preamp. But thats just me. But of the 3 you listed, the epi lp bass. But would have to try one first for weight. Since I remember someone recently buying one said it was lot hevier then thought would be. Actually a Epi EBO3 would be my pick of the epi basses though. Same $300 price tag. Then plan for adding 3 band eq preamp to replace the two passive tone controls on the stock one. Via stacked bass/treble, mid/midsweep.

Out of the 3 i listed, the only one ive actually tried was the epiphone, and i didnt think the weight was too much of a problem, i really liked the sound i got out of it, it seemed perfect for the hard rock/metal band i play in, but im still pretty undecided

Great idea. This is the equivalent of buying a $700ish bass new.
