White noise in my Pensa J-4 ????

Does anyone have an idea re: the white noise coming from my Pensa J-4 custom Bass. It sounds exactly like the noise experienced between AM radio stations. I've tried the most obvious solutions i.e. changing cords,amps, 9 volt battery,etc. but to no avail.
