Who all makes tilt back combo's now days?

I'm wanting to pick up a tilt back combo with a good DI.

I basically need it to be loud enough to make a good stage monitor while the DI is run to FOH.

Several of the little bars I played before Covid would cram everyone into a corner and I was encouraged to just use a DI pedalboard setup.

I hate not being able to hear myself so a tilt back combo might do the trick.

I'm eyeballing a Hartke but I'm not sure how I feel about the line out not having a pre/post EQ button or a level control.

I also saw the Markbass but MB has never really excited me tone wise.

From my searches, the selection seems to be pretty limited when it comes to tilt back combo's.

Get a wedge, and turn any amp you want into a tilt back. Love my on stage folding wedge:

I'm not certain there are any combos with DI output control. That might be a feature only on heads.
Behringer used to have some kickback models, but no more. Maybe you can find NOS or decent used. I'm not a fan of them.

Ashdown has the OriginAL 300s in 112 or 210 configurations. No idea how the DI is configured.

The Genzler Magellan 350 combo is slanted but I wouldn't call it a kickback. DI has a pre/post switch.

Guitar Center house brand Acoustic have kickback combos in a variety of sizes. The B25C, B50C and B100C kickback but then the controls end up along the side, which I think is odd. The B600C kicks back normally. Only the B100C and B600C have DI output, but they do have a pre/post switch.

Ampeg BA series kickback, and end up with the controls on the side, like the Acoustic. It appears that only the BA115V2 and BA210V2 sport a DI connection, which is post-EQ/post-Volume. Not ideal.

EBS Session 60 and 120 both kickback. Not a lot of power and the DI appears to be post-EQ/pre-Volume.

Harley Benton make the SolidBass 150C and 300C kickback combos, but they are 230VAC for Europe only.

You're already aware of the Hartke kickback KB12 and KB15. At least the DI output is pre-EQ and pre-Volume. I don't think that would be a dealbreaker for me.

I know what you mean about Markbass tone: you either love it or hate it. But they do offer a pre/post switch for the DI. Kickback models are Marcus Miller CMD 102 250 & 500, and the CMD 102P.

wow, abarson , nice list/effort/post! good info. :thumbsup:

every time i see a tilt-back i think about 'em. real handy in non-IEM situations, sitting close/next to a monitor cabinet with the right mix. i've used heads+wedges for those scenarios but a lightweight tilt-back combo could be nice...and handy-er.

CallMeAl has a neat solution.

i'm using this, currently. it works.

if you can find a decent one used you might really like the SWR workingpro 12. i have been using mine at our rehearsal space for 2 years and it really is great. i would have no problem gigging it if i needed to. DI can be switched pre or post EQ. best 80 bucks I ever spent for something on craigslist...

I recently bought the newer version of the Peavey Max 110 for home use & as a stage monitor, if needed. The speaker inside is angled up so you don’t have tilt it back. I don’t know the degree of the angle, but seems to be fine for my purposes.

We have a Markbass 2x10 combo at my church that I use. It’s a great amp, but Markbass is VERY proud of their amps. Just too expensive for my needs.

I play the Hartke KB12 500 Watt combo. It has great tone and tone shaping even though the controls are very straight forward. I have not tried the D.I. out yet so no opinion there. I do preffer a seperate D.I. anyway. I like being able to give the sound guy what they need and tweek my amp to my liking as my personal monitor. And if I use in ears I can leave the amp home and just bring my bass, headphones and D.I.

It's reasonable priced for all that power and features. Drop it on another cab for a full 500w portable stack.
