Who are Lee and Nathan from Anderton's?

I keep watching videos of 2 really good bass players from a music store in the UK.
They never seem to tell you their last names.
I was wondering if they work at the store or if they hired musicians specifically for the video series

I think most of the guys in the videos work for the store, but obviously they are musicians too. Rabea Massad (who does a lot of the "Sound like..." videos) and Rob Chapman (who has a guitar brand of his own and I believe pretty much is the original Anderton's youtuber) are in a band called Dorje together.

Nathan is the younger brother of Level 42’s Mark King.

The Lee bloke works in the shop. Nathan King is Mark King's brother.

I like the bass demoes but find Nathan really grating. He has a sort of goofy sense of humour that I generally tend not to mind but he just comes off as obnoxious.

I definitely like Lee more. But I do like both of them. It's pretty cool that they work in the store

I think he’s pretty funny, if you read between his jokes...

Yeah, I think Lee runs their bass department and Nathan just does videos. Pretty sure he's a professional musician and doesn't have a "day job" but I could be wrong there.

Lee is an amiable, skilled, and knowledgeable salesman. He does an admirable job of putting up with obnoxious, unfunny, and somewhat ignorant Nathan. Nathan is one of these guys like Frank Stallone who's just barely famous enough to hang around guitar stores and annoy people, and they just have to deal with it.

I enjoy their vids except one thing - they might need to do a little work on their sign language for conveying how they are making adjustments to the controls. I get what they are doing unless I try to pay attention to their signing. I sorta kid. Those guys are great players.

Nathan plays guitar and sings in Level 42 and is a stellar musician, as is Lee. I often watch their jams for inspiration, love their contrasting styles. Check out some of Nathan's guitar work at 3:20 of this vid

I love the fact that Andertons is doing so well. It used be behind my house in the 1970s. Set up by Lee’s grandfather I think. We used to bunk off school (play hookey) and hang out there as they had a cool pinball machine. The manager John would get annoyed with us and chuck us out. Between us we’ve spent thousands in there over the last 30 or 40 years. I bought my first guitar there and I still have it.

It's a matter of perspective. I think he's a fine bass player and Lee was setting the pace with the silly humor. Lee's backed off from the bass video's and there's a new guy with Nathan who plays bass even better, IMO. I think they turn the knobs on the basses and amps way too fast and willy nilly to get things dialed in. It would be more convincing if they gave something a bad review every now and then, but they are reviewing their own merchandise publicly so that's not gonna happen.

Reading back through this thread there seems to be a lot of confusion, so, to set the record straight:
Guitar vids are done by Rob Chapman (guitar maker) and Lee Anderton AKA The Captain (store owner).
Bass is with Lee (different Lee who also works in the store) and Nathan King (Professional guitar and bass player and has played with Level 42 and the Blockheads). Nathan is a well respected musician of many years.
Older bass vids were Lee Anderton and Nathan, so both Lees can be seen doing bass depending on the era but Lee “The Captain” Anderton, used to often only play guitar in them as he acknowledged that bass was a v different instrument that he wasn’t an expert player on.

Of the entire lot I prefer Rabea Massad. Coherent, organized, uses complete sentences, spares us all the shop “in jokes,” and is a master at his craft. Too bad bass isn’t his main instrument.

He’s also now doing his own gear videos on YT.

I’m kind of glad Chapman is now pretty much out of the loop. There’s been many times when I wanted to punch him and say: Can you give all your little asides and private jokes a rest and get on with it?
