Who has an MIM Jazz bass 5 string out there?

I just picked one up recently. I think I got lucky and got a good one.....because the low B is solid and the build quality is as good as MIA.

You did get lucky.

One of my students did not get so lucky with his Fender MIM Jazz 5, and the B is pretty bad.

This is one model I would never purchase sight-unseen, and not before a thorough workout/trial period with some kind of return policy firmly in place.

Well, I'm 2 for 2, sight unseen. The right .125 B string seems to be the trick for me though. I've tried some that were dead.

I have owned two: a '00 Deluxe and and '05 passive, which I still have. I like both, but prefer the tone and flexibility of the Audere I dropped into the '05 better than the stock preamp of the Deluxe.

Both are well made, but I really can't afford the MIA, so I didn't really work with one. The '05 cost me $375 and the '00, I recently sold for $325. I wouldn't spend much more than that used, and they pop up here often enough...

Just to throw it out there - there's currently a used MIM Jazz V on the GC website for $329.99. It's in Amarillo, TX, so shipping would probably run you $20 or less to Reno. I've never played a Jazz V, but saw your thread and have a bad habit of checking out the GC used website pretty regularly.
