Who has KRK monitors?

I just had a quick question.

When you turn on the power switch does the speaker make an audiable popping sound from the power being turned on? My current monitors do this and it drives me nuts. I'm considering KRK's for a replacement.

v8's, v4's here, no popping if turned on in the correct sequence.

My KRK's don't do that but there is a noticeable hiss from one of the tweeters. You can't hear it when actually mixing but it's definitely there.

I have KRK V4's and V8's as well, no popping.

Don't worry too much about it though, lots of speakers do it. Especially passives powered by an external amp. It takes a BIG pop to do any damage to a speaker, though I have seen it happen with an old dry woofer.

All amps hiss a little as well, if you i bugs you try tweaking your gain staging. Find out which amp is causing the hiss, turn it down and compensate with volume somewhere else!

Checkin' in late - FWIW I have the KRK RP5's as well. No pops when powering up or down.

My current monitors are the mackie's. I have the MR8's, but they are much too large for my desk/room. They do sound great though.

No issues with my VXT4's. I love them...... perfect for my small mixing environment..... very little room treatment required (tried out some 8's, but man, just too much for this room). Got a smokin' deal on them too!

I've found the VXT4s to be wonderful little monitors for the money. If you're mixing a lot of bass-heavy music, they're a little light on the bottom end, but the stereo imaging is quite good. As with any monitoring setup, proper positioning and good room treatment makes them even better.

These are a more of a reference pair for me, but I like them a lot. They're a bit shy on the mids though but still incredibly good for the money.

like i've seen in other reviews, there is a buzz/hum on these tho...

i got them in a MF bundle and with discount and rebate cost under $100 each, so, i can deal w/the buzz for an otherwise good value monitor.

I recieved my RP5's and they work really well for my room and desk. They sound great, and have a good amount of bass response for the volume I usually work with.

Now to start on some broadband traps.
