Who here plays Fender amps?

well, imho, a 40-50 Watt bassman amp was a big sound when all guitar amps were in the 18-30 Watt range
but those stock speakers were a stretch
same went for ampeg pieces,
but replacing the stock speakers with jbl's or altecs made a big difference
until the svt's most serious bass players were looking, constantly for an amp and speaker set that would work
one or two fender showman amps, each with 1, or 2, or 4 jbl 15's was a prime set up

My friend is playing with a 150 watt Bassman I believe and he hates it. Starts to distort at half volume or even less.

I have used the Fender 800 Pro and I loved it. I traded it for my current setup of a Fender TBP-1 preamp and the Fender MB1200 poweramp. My new new setup is outstanding. I can highly recommend both of these, but they are heavy.

I always thought the Bassman 25 was a cool little amp for home use. Plenty of volume and a nice tone, especially through headphones. I've owned three of them and still have one of the early models.

Theres some site I was on (ampwares I think) that said Fender only made like 500 of those amps... I've been searching ebay for one. I think it would be cool to own one, just because of the low production number; I hear they sound great as well...

Yeah they do sound great, I actually prefer it to a b-15, I think it was like $200 in a pawn shop.

I like it a lot. Before I got this Fender 215 Pro, I was always
experimenting with amps. They all sound good now.

It's only about two weeks old so I'm still putting it to the test.
I haven't played it outside of my basement yet but it's going
strong and I have zero complaints so far.

Wierd how little interest and/or discussion there is about the NEW Fender bass Pro Line - which from what I have heard of it kicks some serious ass. It is more vintage-inspired tone-wise type stuff but I dig that alot.

I also know a couple guys who use the old vintage Bassmans for bass, albiet modded somehow or other, and those amps sound awesome.

I owned the Fender TBP-1 that the Fender Pro series is based on. I liked it very much. My wallet hates it right now though.

I have two Ampeg 1x15" cabs that I stack on each other and have been diggin that set-up. I haven't used Fender cabs since the 80's and they pretty much sucked so I've never gone back, but this new pro series may just get be to try them out again.

The Pro line kit is really nice! A lot of people won't even bother to listen to it because the micro-lightweight stuff seems to be all the rage nowadays. Heck, my TB-600 only weighs 32 pounds, it's not like an SVT, for goodness sake!

It does vintage sounds in spades, but a lot of bassists really dig the ultra hi-fi sparkly sound, so it's probably not the best match for those types of players.

I use a silverface Bassman Ten at practice sometimes. It's filthy, I like it quite a bit.

I have a 15" Fender Bassman 100W combo.
I plain dislike it. Can't wait to get a new rig. I've had this thing for a few years now, never really loved it. Just does not do what I want it to.

Soon it will be gone!

I have a pro 400 through an ampeg svt410hlf.................. EXcellent!!!...also I just got an acoustic h200b brain... I like the balanced sound thru the ampeg cab!
I had a bassman amp back in the day, though... TWO words for that amd...PUKE, BARF!!! lol

I play my Telecaster through my 59' bassman ltd .... but dont tell anyone. I keep my old guitard habits sharp and somewhat secret. Played guitar for 25 years now. Im one of those bass players that loves to hear how we only play bass because guitar is too hard.... I usually answer with "Hand me your guitar." Took theory and improvisational jazz classes and can go blues or shred, or funky rhythm as well.Back to Fender Bass amps. I have played a vintage 50 watt blackface bassman head through a 2 15 sunn cab...and the tone I could get when it wasn't buzzing like crazy, was nothing short of gorgeous.

Tele + '59 bassman = pure win.


Being a "guitard" myself for 10 years, that is the winner. I've tried hundreds of rigs and that's the one that works the best.

Purchased the head thru Ebay from a dude in LA last year. It's a 71. Took my tech 3 months to screw up the courage to relearn how to deal with a 400PS. It has more power than my SVT II had, and I'm only running 2 of the 3 4ohm outs. Into my old Bassman 4x12, which now has 4 Basslite S2012's, paired , each pair has it's own input. It is unbelievable. Without a doubt the most amazing tube head Fender has produced. I have parked the Bassman 135 head for a well-earned rest after 10 years of faultless service, as the 400PS makes the sweet sounding 135 head sound pretty average...
I'm of the same mindset as Fealach - if I can find one of these again, I will buy it straight away - even if it is broke...they are just too special to ignore if you like vintage valvosity at high levels for your Fenders...
