Who is using Tech21 Character pedals besides VT

They're all very useful, per my experience. My favorite is the Leeds, hands down.

Used an oxford for a while and it took out a lot of my low end.

THAT would be a deal breaker for me......

I was splitting a my signal with a crossover and used the Leeds for the lows and the Liverpool for my highs, kinda trying a Chris Squire thing. I didn't
completely love the rig that way but the Liverpool was killer for the crunch I wanted on the highs. I use the dUg amp now - I hate pedals.....

So, the blonde doesn't cut the deeper lows? Been interested in it for a while.

I've never used the Blonde for bass but a lot of people complain on TGP that it has too much bass when it comes to guitar. It's what I use for guitar because I have a Tele and need that low end with my bridge pup. Plus, my favorite guitar amps are tweed Fenders set clean. I get pretty close with the Blonde.

I use the Blonde, character all the way counter clock wise, EQ in the middle, gain just enough for unity gain. I like fat clean sounds. Tried the VT and it just didn't have enough fatness for me.

(Not me in the video, btw.)

The Blonde is even fatter than the VT. The Low eq is centered @100HZ, the mid EQ is centered @1000Hz.

JHS makes the Muffuletta, which is six different Muff pedals in one. I have wondered if or why VT couldn't do the same thing with its various era pedals.

Because that's the purpose of the Character knob.

I'm not an Ampeg guy. One thing that has bugged me is the Tech21 has been all about the VT in various forms while ignoring other bass amps...

Couldn't agree more. An Orange AD200B, Acoustic 360/361, and Mesa 400+ sim pedal from them would be monstrously awesome. They've already made guitar sims for Orange and Mesa, what's stopping them from doing it for bass as well?

Looks like the Blonde might work out just fine. With a low control centered around 100hz it would at least have some decent low end (so, not just a guitar pedal).
I did see one of the Blonde Deluxe models floating around as well.
Ok, now where did I put my wallet ?

While not the character series exactly, the Joyo copies are real popular here. The American sound, BLONDE in particular. I have that one and the AC Tone, which is the Liverpool. Good stuff. Slightly more affordable than the T21 stuff.

I have a Mike Putnam-modded British pedal that I used to use all the time till they came out with the VT Deluxe. He modded it with a knob to add more low end. It's still terrific, but honestly, I only use it for guitar anymore.

I like the American Sound so much I ordered the real thing (Blonde). Think I'll get the other Joyo cheapies too.

I've used the Leeds and it, to me, sounds close to the GK sound. I didn't notice any low end loss. I've also tried the British, which had some low end loss, but there is a mod to fix that.

I got little distracted the past week or so and have not focused on any of this character pedal stuff for a week or so.

so Jimmy, when using the Tech21 stuff, you stick with a VTD then ? is it modded in any way (like the Mike Putnam wet/dry blend mod) ?

If I can still find one of the Blonde Deluxe pedals, I may go for that just to check it out.

Everyone hears things and interprets them differently. I'm not into super dubby tone, so I might not have noticed low end loss if there was some

Same here, I don't get below an E. Just find it interesting that some say the Leeds had no loss and the Oxford does, then another thread that says the opposite. Probably going to buy both joyo versions, then upgrade to the Tech 21 pedals if I like them.

Yeah, the VTD takes care of what I need. I use other stuff on my main pedalboard, but I still use the VTD for fly gigs and gigs where all I need is a couple distorted tones.

Missed my Oxford so much that I have another one coming on Monday. I will have clips soon after. I don't remember it lacking low end at all, but we will see.

My Ric is exceptionally bright, though.
(Classic Amplification 70's pickups, brass nut, brass bridge, bridge and neck no-load tone pots, 10meg bridge volume pot, Hi-Beams)

I updated my favorite clip with it(attempted to fix the really bad drum(machine) mix I had - it was worse than this)

Got to try them out (Joyo vs Tech 21) at rehearsal last night. I'll post my thoughts when I have more time.
