I see no LAKLAND on the list, but you can get into their indonesian 44-01 pretty cheap and that a no f'ing around bass in the same price range as Fender or Schecter. Nice wood. Nice neck. Nice aesthetic. Korean made bartolinis? You could do worse.

Yes there should, and going by some of the replies this poor bloke (Chewbacca Bass) has received, 3 or 4 years of age should be about right.
J.Crawford (very insightful for a young fella) mentioned that TB has a culture of "flame the new guy"...I'm not sure that you can generalize like that, as it is being unfair to all the genuine Forum users who have good positive input, and like JC said, if you don't like what you are reading, move on. And to the "flamers" I would suggest that ya's pull your heads out of your own arses.
Dave64o suggested that Chewbacca's friend, should register and start using the Forum, I agree, but register with "Basschat", the British version, the odd dickhead or two on that forum but a much friendlier Forum than this one by a long way. !

All the basses on the poll are mass produced factory-made bassses (correct me if I'm wrong).
I'm not sure there's much in it in terms of qualitative difference.
I 'd say it's down to taste.

Rickenbacker isn't "mass-produced factory-made".

Hmmm... If it has to be mass produced, there's plenty of carrots out there to chew on. For my money, it would have to be either Fender or MusicMan. Possibly MM for me, as their quality control seems more consistent than the big F.

In terms of high end luthier basses, there are so many to choose from. My personal preferences are Status-Graphite & Alembic.
