Who makes the best onboard preamp?

I use an ACG EQ-01 in my 5 and an OBP-3 in my 4, both with P/J pup's. I'm going to build another 4 and load it with P/P and use Klaus Noll TCM 3P. As Philly said "taste and choice" and budget!

I dropped a Noll TCM 4xm into a Jazz24... no poopie! running 18 volts it is very powerful. Now I need to add a passive tone to the thing and I am off to the races.

I use sadowsky preamps. A guy I built a bass for has a friend who owns a big studio in Nashville and he asked him what all the bass players in Nashville are using to cut through the mix like they do live and he told him sadowsky preamps.

I have limited experience, but I love my Darkglass Tone Capsule. The bass, low mids, high mids configuration works incredibly well and lets me dial in the tone I desire.

What would you guys recommend for a p bass with a stacked bass/ treble and preferably, and EQ by pass?
I really don't have a strong need for a pre-amp but thought it might be interesting on a Pbass with stock or Duncan SPB-1's.
Happy to know if you don't think a pre is a good plan for a P bass as well.

yeah, since at that time John East offered a filter pre through ACG but now you have Lusithand and Underhill with filter pres of good quality.

Can't say I've tried more preamps than anybody else. But if I was thinking about a pre in a P, I'd be interested in knowing more about this one

LOL - I was partial to the Aguilar OBP-1 in 2006, and I still am 18 years later!

I've enjoyed most of the aftermarket pres I've tried.
So far the East uni is what I like the most. It's so clean and has so much usable range.

I do want to try a filter style pre. Kinda scared to drop the cash though. Except for Wals, which I can't demo, I have no real reference for those types of pres except videos which aren't very telling.
