Who owns a 15" and why do you use em?

What other cabs are using the Eminence KAPPALITE™ 3015 speaker for 115s or related enclosures?

I wasn't aware of any when I built mine a year ago, which is why I built mine a year ago.

I have a SWR workingmans 15 combo, which has a 15 inch speaker with a tweeter, and adore the sound it delivers, its nice and boomy, but it doesnt really lack any definition

and i bought it because I could buy it really cheaply at that time

On the subject of Eminence, anyone know what cabs the LEGEND series 10s are in? It's between them and Fane for my 2x10 extension, I'd rather go for Fane cos their built like 20 miles away from me and I've heard very very good things, just can't get in touch with them.

The guy building my cab came across someone, saying they could get Fane Sovereigns for £20 and £30 for the 125W and 225W speakers respectively. I'm a little sceptical of that obviously, unless perhaps Fane actually make some naff speakers as well as incredibly good ones.

*EDIT* turns out they're professional audio speakers, rubbish!

What Kindness said. Actually the 3015 isn't your old-schoolie standin in particular, it's got less midbass hump at typical old bass cab enclosure volumes/tunings. It's a little more modern and tight sounding than that in those cabs and has better midrange than many drivers of the old school persuasion, and more xmax. I'm really enjoying mine, though ultimately it'll be used for moderate-power high-performance club PA mains since I largely prefer the 3015LF / 18 Sound 6ND410 combination.

I just got a Peavey 115 that I want to use with my Avatar SB 112 neo. My thought is that I can turn the attenuator up on the Avatar to cut through the mix and the 15 will pump the lows well. We'll see

Don't be afraid to cut your bass a fair bit if your using a 15, unless your going fora a really low sound. If you cut some bass and cut the right low mids to tighten stuff up, then just push the gain and volume a bit to make up for it, then you can get alot of depth out of a typical 15 without the typical 15 muddyness, unless your into that sorta thing.

last week I was testing a GK neo 410 and a GK neo 115. The 410 had much more bass (meaning the real low frequencies) than the 115.

between them I prefered the 115.

You sure? You do have to seriously crank the watts till you notice. Then again they might have voiced the 115 so it's more orientated toward adding depth rather then sub bass.

Alot of tens have that whole mid bass hump to make up for a lack of lower bass (not that you always want it, and not that a good ten can't produce it). If you didn't know already of course

Well, I've been using a Accugroove Tri 115 and am about to sell my Berg HT/EX mini-stack because of it! GREAT sound, and LOUD!

Yeah of course, I was just making a couple of sweeping generalisations, which usually seem to be the case.

My NV doesn't sound very much like a normal 15 loaded cab due to it being sealed, a much tighter and clearer sound.

I use 10s--12s and 15s. Depending on how I feel that day. I figure if 15s are good enough for Jeff Berlin, they can't make me sound any worse.
