Who Wants a Genesis Reunion?

Just thought I'd see how many Genesis fans there were out there. Who wants to see the guys reunite, Gabriel and all (Hopefully Hackett too)? I'd love to see "Supper's Ready" done live, even though I doubt that Peter OR Phil would wear the Magog suit anymore....(not that Phil ever did.)

While we're on the topic of prog rock bands, WHO'S GETTING TIX FOR YES AND STYX THIS SUMMER!!!!???? :D :D :D

Doubt it will happen. Last I heard Phil Collins has retired (from live performance at least) due to health concerns.

Maybe if he just did the singing and they brought someone else on to drum... but that just wouldn't be the same.

I saw an article that mentioned that Phil was retiring but the next day I saw an interview where he denied those reports.

I have never seen Genesis live but will go if they reunite.

They did do a reunion tour a couple years back.
Not with Peter Gabriel. (I know that's who you want to see)
Just Phil Collins & his back up group. VH1 had the behind the scenes documentary on the tour.

Should this go forward I am in serious trouble. My wife will insist that we go, and I will have to spend oodles of cash that I don't have (or could be using to cure GAS).

That said, 'The Musical Box' live would be wonderful!

I don't know about wanting to see them re-unite. We're going back ~ 35 years already since they split up. I care to remember them as they were ... and there are plenty of vintage YouTube vids that I often watch when I get nostalgic. I can sit & watch several live versions of "Supper's Ready" one right after the other!

Gabriel's voice, and certainly his stage energy, aren't what they used to be. Whose would be after so many years?!

I've seen PG live 7 or 8 times since he went solo, 3 of them I sat so close I could literally touch the stage, the last time no more than a few feet away from his keyboards. I still have one of his shoes from when he fell on top of me during "Lay Your Hands On Me". THOSE are what I want my memories to be.

I saw Genesis live back in the 80's in a stadium setting, fronted by Phil. Not quite the same, and other than a short medley of vintage songs, it was "meh" ... IMO.

Yes. The Gabriel era Genesis. Before it became "Phil Collins and the Pop Machine" (No offense to Phil. Tarzan's soundtrack is epic, the guy's a great musician, and a very under rated drummer, however, Genesis ceased to be Genesis after "Trick of the Tail".)

Would have to be with Gabriel, that was the Genesis line up for me. I spent some time at Real World his studio a while back, cool place. The question is, will he be happy wearing the Sunflower again?

I would love to see the classic Genesis lineup, but I don't see it ever happening. There are some amazing tribute bands out there though. Check out The Musical Box or The Grand Parade or Faireweather on YouTube for some note for note Genesis goodness.

Speaking of classic prog reunions, UK are having a reunion tour (without Bruford or Bozio though) playing UK and John Wetton era Crimson tunes. I'm really interested, but tickets are a bit on the pricy side for me.

Last time I saw the band was on The Lamb Lies Down tour. I also saw them on the Foxtrot and Selling England By The Pound tours. I know I was lucky to catch them back in the day, but I wouldn't want to see middle aged men doing this all over again.

I can sum up my feelings on Genesis with a simple movie quote..

P.S. I saw Styx live (20 years ago). Save your money...they're very old now (and were old and boring then too) and they put on a very boring show. :hmm:

On a reunion: Ain't gonna happen.

To me, it looks like PG is happy with what he's doing now. PC may or may not be retiring from the scene. PC, TB, and MR are all mad at Steve Hackett last that I heard for Wind in Wuthering, go figure.

Last comment I read directly from TB was "Maybe, but most likely no".

On the up side, I would like to see the show if it did happen.
