I'll bet they all have enough money to retire right now but being rich always leads to more greed. Such a pathetically said situation. I've been a Journey fan for over 40 years but this is souring me on them. ALL of them.

Did you see them in the Music Hall in Houston? I was at that show, it was the very first time Van Halen came to town, and Journey came back on stage for encores 7 times. Van Halen opened the show, and Montrose came on second, with Journey headlining. That was a very good concert.

Same here. They are talented, without doubt, but I'm just not a top 40 kinda gal. I get bored hearing the same songs over and over and, for me, Journey represents peak "AOR" with radio-friendly, formulaic hits that were way overplayed. I admire good musicianship though, and Steve Perry did have an incredible voice.

Everybody can trash Journey and perhaps some justified-- but throughout my life especially my most fruitful as a touring professional, Journey was part of my world through the 70's and 80's. I believe just about everyone has a Journey song that brings them back to another place another time. No one can take that away from them.

It's very sad that the band members allowed themselves to get caught up in corporate and legal greed. In the end it's only the corporation and legal bottom dwellers that profit, while lives are shattered. I wish they had kept this all secret-- American business is so ugly and self gratifying. Long live the OLD memory of Journey.

I know Ross a little bit, a great guy who can flat out play. I don't think we have the full story behind this yet. I don't think too many players on this site would turn down the success Journey has had. I dug their first two albums the best, but I also understand that having cashflow from making a living playing music doesn't suck.

...the latest news (rumors) i've heard:

1. deen castronovo is not coming back so the drum chair is wide open. deen mentioned on his tweeter that journey is going in a "different direction", abandoning the past, and in search of new blood. interesting...

2. neal and jon (as journey) may, or may not have, fired irving azoff as their longtime manager. not altogether sure if that's a good or bad thing. azoff netted them bags of money.

my opinion, if they were looking for wholesale changes, i would change out arnel pineda and go with a firepower female voice that can do steve perry-type vocal gymnastics and ooze soul. ann wilson would be my pick. she could croon with the best of them and command the spotlight with a simple, soaring held note. my opinion, of course...
