Who's Got Exp Modding a Smith?

I do not dig the sound of the Burner I recently got- in passive mode anyway. The pre (on-board) is a bit toasted, so unusable. Anyone have experience getting a different sound- 'rockier', let's say- out of one of these?

Try maybe the Aguilar OB2 preamp, or stick some J sized humbuckers in there. Hope that's some help :/ I put a Schack circuit in my bass and it runs off three 9-volt batteries, that thing is a monster. Had to do a bit of routing though. Seriously killer circuit!

With a good setup those basses sound very good IMO.
