I was confused for a minute because you can see during the slap/pop sections that Jimmy doesn't have his hand in "slap" position. Then I remembered that he plays with his bass upside down. Sure enough, he's popping with his thumb.

Another current bassist that plays like this is Stan Sargent who I saw with KebMo 3 or 4 years ago. Interesting because the slap is the tips of index and middle fingers hitting down hard on the lower strings and the thumb popping. Hard to follow.
