For a good chunk of 2011, my main player was an '83 P that I decked out to look like a '57 reissue. It's got a "reversed" pickup and series/parallel push-pull volume knob.

What blows my mind is the notion that basses from the 80's are considered vintage now.

..for me my favorite is an 83' Squire P-bass -sweet,sweet tone with action better then any of the actual 'Fenders' I've thus come across.

76 Precision body with 83 neck. Bought it new in 76 as a Precision. Only thing left from the original is the body and neck plate. Not always my main bass but is used pretty often.
