For a good chunk of 2011, my main player was an '83 P that I decked out to look like a '57 reissue. It's got a "reversed" pickup and series/parallel push-pull volume knob.
What blows my mind is the notion that basses from the 80's are considered vintage now.
76 Precision body with 83 neck. Bought it new in 76 as a Precision. Only thing left from the original is the body and neck plate. Not always my main bass but is used pretty often.
