I still check out interesting looking basses when I happen on them, but invariably find that nothing matches up to what I already have. I may actually have found the perfect "for me" basses. Leaves me free to obsess over cabs.

why am i always looking for some thing else

We have to do something with our time, we just happen to like bass stuff.
Know your limit, stay within it and have fun with bass.
I have two bass' both Hamer USA Cruise bass', one stock, one with Ultra Jazz pups. They fit me fine. Just find a Guitar Cen, play every bass on the wall, then go to all the music stores in your area and do the same. Sit back think which one felt the best and make a choice.
By just changing strings from Steels to Flats will usualy do the trick with a good bass if you start playing a different style of music.
