Why are bass cabinets so expensive?

Generally, you get what you pay for. Competition insures that if a product is more expensive than it’s worth to the customer, it will not survive.

There's a Big Bertha at a MGR near me, lol.

They have a Acoustic 104 for cheap with matching 150 head, although I believe it's more for guitar(I think the store mislabeled it), not sure it'd work well for bass.

I've seen the 104 used for bass.
Nathaniel Phillips when playing with Plesure used one laying crossways on top of an Acoustic 106 2x15. It looked like a giant T.

I'm looking for something small, maybe a 110. This is for our cabin and will just be used for practice and to jam with 1 or 2 people with acoustic guitars.

I searched the local used market and there's nothing small. Someone mentioned the Ampeg SVT210, it's $500+ up here. The BC208 looks promising, $300 Cdn. I can afford either one (or something else) as long as I feel that the value is there.

I guess I was just shocked that there are so few cabs under $500.

Describing your intended use helps a lot. A used Eden EX110 or 112 would be an excellent choice and comparatively easy to find.

Car speakers are not a good choice to be used with a Guitar amplifier.
Seems Guitar amplifier speakers have a much deeper cone shape to them.
A deeper Cone may give you a wider frequency range of responce than a shallow cone, and you notice on Subwoofer speakers have a large flat plastic center making them very shallow, perhaps to eliminate higher frequencies.
Bass guiter needs the full range of frequency responce, so you can tell when they have new strings, you will hear every little crispy crackle sound if your cab has a tweeter and a crossover.

A deeper cone does not give wider range of response than a shallower cone.
