Why are so many bass pedals brown?

I think it's because many people hold the view that bassists shouldn't use pedals and if they do, it's only because they secretly want to be a guitarist. Brown pedals are camoflauged on wooden stages and enable bass players to use effects without sneering looks from guitards.

Its not just guitards that have that view. It's 90% of TB, too. Just go over to the amp forum sometime and mention that you use effects, they sneer worse than any guitard I've ever met.

Spanky travelled back in time to tell the companies to make them brown so that they would compliment the surge of pink pedals for bass in 2008. It was a total complimentary color scheme.

Not all bass effects are brown. the picture of the dod bass stereo chorus you've posted looks red. I owned two digitech pedals. one is blue(chorus), the other is red(distortion).

It's a brownish red This thread is only half serious anyway, I could have also asked why are so many Choruses blue? or why are there a lot of orange phases?

Really?!?...it's brownish red?..well I guess it is brownish red. I did take another look of the picture. the only red chorus pedal I can think of now is the rocktron tsunami chorus.
