Why are speakons so difficult? (Need help)!

What?
:p

So, I don't really understand much of this..
So whats the verdict? Is this cable going to work?
And even if I did plug it in, and it wasn't the right cable, what would it do?
Wasn't Hartke running an ad where you call up Larry Harke himself on his cell phone? Call him! Then tell us what he said!
:bassist:

Failing that, plug in the speakon you got. What are the chances that the amp will explode? Zero! At worst case you are going to get only one side of your amp, ie 500 watts. Best case, it is perfect as is and the thread can be closed!

When I zoomed in on the graphic of the back panel, it looks to me like they are showing wires connected to 1+/1- (note the bold circles on those connections as opposed to the light circles on 2+/2-). That combined with the fact that the manual says to use a "standard Speakon cable" to connect to a 4 or 8 ohm cabinet when running in bridged mode, I'm inclined to say that they have designed the head to run using a two wire, 1+/1- Speakon cable for bridged mode. In other words, I think the two wire cable you bought will work just fine, as long as it will plug into the jack on the amp. (I can't remember, is it the female 4 conductor speakon plug that won't fit into a 2 conductor speakon jack, or is it the 2 conductor plug that won't fit into the 4 conductor jack?). Anyway, for Bass Masta16's question, if the jack fits the plug, I'd say he's good to go, based on what the manual shows and says.

The standard is if there are numbers present there are wires present.

Though that dosnt require them to follow the standard.

Only way to really tell is hook it up.

I would try rewiring the cabl to move pin -1 to 2+ if no sound comes out you would then be for sure to use 1+ 1-. If you tried to test the other way it would be harder to tell.

You guys... a 2 conductor speakon has only two connections, they are +1 and what would be the -1 connection. It requires a 4 conductor speakon to get bridged-mono on an AMPEG. This is not an AMPEG and YOUR amp says use a standard cable. That is a two wire +1 and -1 cable, flip the switch to bridged and plug it in. It will work Mom called and told me so. BOB
