I have an uncle who went to prison for that. He befriended an old lady whose family moved out and left her so he helped her do daily things. She had a car she never used and gave it to him. Her next of kind didn't like that and the court found that she was not of sound facility to take care of her own affairs so they charged him with taking advantage of her. 10 years.
