I heard that the same factory that make the necks for SX is now making necks for Squire basses. I guess it was suggested that if they want the business, no one else could have their shape.

That's it right there. But you'll notice that Kaptin Kurt has been *sneaking* in batches of new old stock basses and necks on a consistant basis . . . money talks and Kurt is a businessman.Hmm.. I don't think that's it. SX Necks feel different to me than the Squiers. Also, outside the US, SX headstocks are still the same shape. I'm thinking it has something to do with US copyright laws.
