Why did you Start to play Bass?

I was pretty sheltered for the my first 12 years, then saw a live bass player for the first time in my friends garage playing ‘low rider’. At that time the guitar and vocals disappeared and I though damn, if I was going to play an instrument it would have to be the bass; it sounded so powerful and cool. Then 2 years later I found Iron Maiden and Steve Harris; since then I was compelled to learn and play all the Maiden tunes then found other great bassists to learn from.

I was going to buy a guitar but I found a bass that was cheaper. Simple as that.

That's a stupid reason but at least I saved a few euro.

No, really, now that I've been playing (or trying to play) bass for a while I've learned to appreciate the art of playing bass a whole lot more. I just love groovy, spicy basslines. I never used to pay any attention to the bass before but now I've noticed that a good bassline can always save an otherwise average song.
