Why do bass hard shell cases have space for guitar straps?

My buzzard case has no space for a strap..... Just routed foam for the bass....... Like a gun case.

I have a pedal bag for spare batteries, jacks, my strap (wide neoprene one) and the usual bass gubbins.

a bit more on topic...and off title...

I never have any trouble fitting a strap of any size in a rectangular hardshell case. The space in the fitted hardshells, like the late 90's Fender cases, can be a problem, though. I don't always put my padded straps in the case, though. I prefer to roll them then to fold them (I don't like the creases folding can create), and the rolled up strap won't always fit in the accessory compartment.

I do appreciate a well-thought out hardshell, though - one that will fit a strap, cable and tuner without risking having one of these knock up against the bass while the case is closed.

I guess I've only ever used "guitar" straps.

"Bass" straps (the 4+ inch jobs) look and feel terribly uncomfortable and unwieldy to me.

But the compartment in my vintage Rick case has enough room for a strap, portable recorder, tuner, and my disassembled clip on stands. Could probably fit a cable in there too if I needed.
